I know from experience that dealer support is as crucial as the brand of machine you buy. I live in Chapel and would ideally like something closer than Cary or Raleigh. I'm pretty open to brands but I need embroidery only machine as I have plenty of sewing machines and a 20 year old Pfaff sewing/embroidery machine which is obsolete now. I've had good luck with Pfaff and Bernina over the years. Thank you.
Your closest Bernina dealer will be in Cary or Raleigh - Elegant Stitches and Bernina World of Sewing.
Your closest Pfaff and Viking dealer is in Raleigh - My Sewing Shoppe.
I have only been here about a year and a half, so I do not know too much about the different shops. I haven't any experience with any of the dealers. I have not gotten into the embroidery part of machines and they may be more dealer intensive than just a sewing machine. Buying into a dealer has not been an issue for me since I have not had any problems with my machine. Plus, I have moved several times. If I have ever needed service the local shops wherever I lived have always worked out. My machine is a Bernina and I know that they keep tight control over their dealers - I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Bernina (although, my pocketbook would )
Try Harbour Sew and Vac in Cary and speak with Norm. There is no one more knowledgeable when it comes to sewing machines! He is absolutely terrific and you will thoroughly enjoy your experience!
