Seriously I am over the moon.

Our alternatives haven't been quite the same.

Dogs can go back to Duke Gardens! With restrictions that include:
  • Only allowed between before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • NO retractable leashes
  • Must be on leash less than six feet long
  • Still can't go into the Brody or Blomquist gardens

https://today.duke.edu/2017/03/duke-...-limited-hours

I know some of you disapprove but they were allowed when the garden was created. Hopefully people won't ruin this opportunity (I've had some pretty strong words with irresponsible dog owners there).

I saw this article and immediately thought of you! Beat me to it lol

So awesome. I think this benefits everyone really; if you want to avoid the dogs, just go at non-dog hours.

I went last evening and there were quite a few dogs, all on leashes less than six feet. I wonder what it was that made them change their mind (maybe some top Duke people also had enjoyed walking their dogs there...)

I wonder what made them do it in the first place, maybe people leaving poop everywhere. Urine burning delicate plants and grass? I'd probably walk my dog around the lot 10 times to make sure he had nothing left before we actually went in. It's so beautiful, I wouldn't mar that with my dog. And I usually bring a water bottle around to water in his pee so it doesn't kill things.

Don't forget dogs pooping everywhere, too. I'm sure dogs were part of the reason.

You know only once did I see dog poop and it was after the ban was announced, so maybe someone was being a jerk...BUT...one of the workers there had told me that people were letting their dogs in the plantings and several times I saw dogs off leash.

I saw this terrible family allow their dog to chase the ducks.

I also regularly see families allow their children to feed all sorts of banned food to the ducks, and see people throwing garbage everywhere. Frustrating all around!
