I don't think the price varies that much in Cary. I would expect to spend $1,000-$1,600 for full time care depending on the quality of the center.

Just to clarify, I assume fareblue is quoting per child.

Most centers will offer a little bit of a discount on a 2nd child.

For a regular licensed daycare center, at least $2000 per month for 2 children.

Yes, that price is per child. At our daycare center the sibling discount is 10%.

$640 per week for two kids (2.5 years old and 6 months) with the 10% second child discount.

We had to give them 3-4 months advanced notice (and pay the registration fee) so we could get a spot.

It depends on the daycare re: waitlist. We paid 210/wk for our son when he was in pre-k and 250 for infant. That was partially comped/discounted rates from my employer but for a 5 star, top notch center. I would say at best you're looking at 850 (bare bones center) for the infant, at worst 1800 or more. It all depends on the quality of care you're willing to take. If you only need part time you may have better rates or if there are churches near you with full day programs. Churches seem to cost less but compare the quality of the product.

Another thing to ask as you probably know is whether diapers and wipes are included for the baby and whether they provide food. Some do and some don't here which I assume is the same everywhere. Also ask whether you can drop in anytime. If they say no that's a red flag to me.

Another piece of advice, take the "star" rating with a grain of salt. In our experience it's a load of BS.

I agree with this. Our daycare was 4 star rated and the reason it wasn't 5 was something to do with one of their daycare providers not having TONS of extra education or something silly like that. Also, not bringing in an outside "Music teacher" can lower your star ratings. It's soo silly...and we LOVED our daycare - the staff had been there for years. That to me is more important than stars. If there's lots of turn-over, there's a reason everyone keeps leaving.
