Hello,

my family is moving to Raleigh NC area in a month. We live at the moment in Minnesota. I have a child at school and was wondering is it going to be a problem that we are moving in the middle of the school year and can she starts in a new school in the middle of the year? How I can find which schools are good in the areas we are planning to live and what happens if the school tnat is assigned to our place is full and no available spots for new kids? Also I have a toddler that goes to preschool here, what is the cost of preschool in Raleigh and Cary?

Thanks a lot for all the information!

the school information - schools that don't allow transfers in because of capacity - is available at wcpss.net, search "Capped" and there's a list.

How your children adjust to a mid-year change is age-dependent. First though, it will also depend on if you're coming to a year-round calendar school (they'll say "year-round" or "MYR" for modified year-round). Young kids have much lower level of issues/problems.

Preschool cost depends on whether you need full-day or part-day. Can be 1200-1500 easily for full day.
