Hi! Thank you for checking this thread. Husband & I will be moving in Raleigh on 1st week of November. Just a little background, we are young couple from New Zealand ---immigrated here in the US, we stayed in NJ for more than a year (most of my relatives are in NJ)-- we knew before that will be relocating to North Carolina once we feel settled in the US, as new immigrants.

We visited some NC cities & we fell in love with Raleigh (it seems like the city where we were from in NZ)
Fast forward, we got job offers & definitely moving.

Anyway, would you be kind to please recommend areas (or perhaps apartment/townhouse specifically) close proximity to Rex Hospital and not more than 40 minutes drive to UNC Medical Center Chapel Hill?
My apology for being particular-- it's just that when I tried to google places there were lots that came up & since we don't know anyone in NC, it's hard for us.

Where will you be working ? Rex / UNC Medical Center Chapel Hill

Will you buy or rent? RENT
What is your budget ? 700-1,100 per month, 1 bedroom
What kind of place are you looking for ? Apartment/Townhouse as long as it suits our budget

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? Spouse only.

List three things that are important to you in order of importance.(examples: nightlife, outdoor activities, rural/urban, safety, downtown area, charming, new construction, proximity to XYZ, family oriented, easy parking, short commute, etc)
1. Safety 2. Proximity to our workplace/short commute

SECOND QUERY: What are the usual utilities included with the rent? (Water, Heat, Electricity)

Thank you for your help & answer!

The Lodge at Southpoint Apartments off I-40 In my opinion. While mileage is closer to Chapel Hill than Raleigh Rex the driving time is basically the same as Rex is just off I-40 and Chapel Hill requires navigating. You'll be ~20 minutes from.both on average.

This is a good pick for drive time and puts you on a major highway to get to many places. The apartments at Southpoint are filled with out of state license plates with people moving to the area with plans to figure out where to live long term. It is not a Raleigh address but sets you up for work distance and allows you easy access to a good portion of the Triangle.

I would look close to 40/440/540 as rex is right off 440 and unc is off 40. I am in north raleigh th and can be at either in less than 40 minutes.

Most of Cary and the Brier Creek area would work.

Typically for an apartment, rent includes water, but not any other utilities.

Mid Cary would work well. There are easy back ways to Rex and Chapel Hill when I40 gets bad. Preston Oaks is a good location but there are many more and only a few to avoid.

Definitely check Cary (especially the north part). Would be quite convenient to Rex and 25-30 minutes to Chapel Hill.

You can use an app or website like Zillow or Hotpads and it will show you all the places that meet your criteria.

No more. Almost all either let the city bill you or sub-meter.
