I am an arachnaphobe and found this big fella just outside my garage. He didn't get mashed because he was outside. Just wondering what he is and if he is dangerous. Those look like some heavy duty fangs. The first photo is with a quarter for size reference.
Thanks.

Looks like a wolf spider. For the most part, nothing to worry about. Some species do have mild venom, but your chance of being bitten by one is extremely remote, and the bite wouldn't produce much of an effect.

Agreed with your sentiments. Treat your garage and house (if you're not already doing so), but they don't pose much of a threat.

LOL. When I first moved into my house a couple years ago, I was weed eating along my fence and I heard this tapping sound. I look over and it's a GIANT wolf spider, literally 3-4x's the size of the one in the photo. He was walking on my fence to get away, since I disturbed it apparently. It scared the you know what out of me. It sounded like a fingers taping on a table, it was that big !

If I saw the one you saw I probably would have had a heart attack.
