I have been looking for months in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex and Morrisville areas on craigslist, hotpads and zillow for a nice one bedroom apartments that allows dogs. Now when I Google the apartment complexes on google majority of them don't have the most warming reviews. Granted everyone's view are different regarding their likes and dislikes. However, I was wondering if maybe you guys could suggest some nice, well known areas and/or apartment complexes.
I have as of yet found employment. That is why I can not narrow it down. I do not mind commuting, I will be moving to Raleigh soon. Some places I have Googled has reviews about other people going around breaking into their cars and so forth. I would like someplace well known and safe. Any places come to mind? What are the better areas of Raleigh?
You have to take rental reviews with a GIGANTIC grain of salt. The glowing reviews are frequently incentivized (review our community and be entered into a drawing for $x off your next month's rent!), and the highly critical ones usually leave out important aspects of their story (got evicted for blatant drug use or property damage, and got p**sed off so they retaliated with a largely fictional review). Give most credence to the "middle of the road" reviews.
And keep in mind, breaking into cars happens anywhere. There's no place that's immune. It does appear, however, that most stories of car break-ins around here involve cars that are left unlocked and/or valuables left in plain sight. So lock your car, don't leave anything in the open, and you'll likely be fine.
Since you have absolutely no idea where you're working, I would advise finding someplace fairly central ... Morrisville or Cary, perhaps.
I do know that the Hawthorne Management properties are very dog friendly.
