I have an out of state friend coming in for a day to visit. She is disabled and has a service dog in training. So I need to find a restaurant with an outdoor area that will allow a dog and is also handicap friendly. Any ideas?
I would love to have her at my house, but the stairs are a deal breaker. TIA

Being a service dog, you can take it anywhere can't you?

I think she could go anywhere.
The service dog in training needs to be exposed to all types of places.

Well, not sure because she is a service dog in training. She hasn't graduated yet, so I figure better safe than sorry.

When is she coming.
Dining outside right now could be chilly.

I thought they graduated before being placed with a disabled person ???

Sure, if you get one...but there is way more demand than supply of service dogs. So, many people elect to train it themselves, rather than wait or pay $10K.

I know two folks that have trained their own. One with a myriad of issues stemming from a tbi, and another I’m not sure about.

This leads to another discussion, but let’s leave that for a different sub forum.

Back to the original question.
I doubt any restaurant would refuse a service dog in training with a disabled person.
Most such dogs are wearing some type of vest or harness that identifies them as a service dog.

Identified service dogs are welcome anywhere. I've seen several over the years at different places. How can they be trained if they can't go everywhere? Hate to ask but is this a real service dog or is this her pet that she's trying to pass off as a service dog because of some disability like "I don't like the sun on odd days"? Places ARE starting to crack down on that. Maybe she should carry its papers just to be sure.

You may be right, but just prefer not to push the issue. She is only 4 months into training and less than a year old. She is being trained with my friend and the trainer through a special program (I don't really know enough about it to be more specific)
She is coming on Friday and the weather is supposed to be warm so I figured lunch/early dinner at an outside table and dessert and coffee at a park where we can just relax and make the most of our time.

It seems Ruckus has that kind of doggy friendly set up, so that is an option. If anyone thinks of something more exciting feel free to post. Thanks all.
