Hi,

I am looking for my 8-year old daughter to learn a foreign language from scratch and wondered what are the reliable options in the area that someone can actually recommend based on personal experience.

She is in the WCPSS in a YR schedule, and used to have a weekly Spanish class, but that got cut due to budget cuts.

I did some Googling and found a "Raleigh French Instruction" and a "Triangle Language Institute", but they don't have any Google or Yelp reviews (OK, RFI had 1). I had also left them voicemails last week to know more, but got no return calls. There is also an Alliance Française, but their classes are during school time.

Anyone? I am open to institutes as well as individual tutors, with reasonable fees and within reasonable driving distance. We are in Wake Forest.

I am not particular on the language - Spanish, French, Mandarin etc. are all good options.

Call the folks at Spanish For Fun. I realize your daughter is too old for their program, but I'm willing to bet they have good suggestions.

There are a couple of Chinese school programs on the weekends. It's like the bane of every Chinese kid's existence.

Any idea if any non-Chinese kids go there?

I'm planning to enroll my daughter this fall, so I don't have personal experience with this school. Based on my childhood experience, there are typically a few non-Chinese kids that attend too.
