They appear in the same place because they go dormant in the cold months. Best thing is fill the holes (after dark when they're not active) and then paint over it. I used the same stain as my deck and it worked fine.

I have had good luck with the traps, not so good with the pesticides.

tennis racket method is arguably the most fun but least effective

The male buzzes around my head acting like a bad ass but never actually attacks and the female's in the hole going about her business. I shoot some Drione dust into the hole and next morning the female's croaked on the ground.

Repeat the procedure at other holes.

1. a badminton racquet is better than a tennis one.
2. empty .40 caliber brass plugs the hole perfectly.
3. spraying WD-40 will drop them to step on them.

Thanks guys for the replies! I contacted my local pest control service because they said they could fix the problem! Hopefully it works. Thanks for all the suggestions.

All those great do-it-yourself remedies and you end up calling an exterminator?

The whole thing was apparently a setup to post a spam link that the mods removed.

Chlorinated brake cleaner drops them from the sky instantly. Works great on spiders too. Just don't inhale.

I have them burrowing on the underside of the porch railing. Is it too late to plug up the hole? I want to paint the railings this spring as soon as pollen season is over. I have wood putty; what else do I need to do?
