My two years are almost up on the AT&T Uverse contract and the bill is going to go up by about $60. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get a new 1 year / 2 years contract?
I will flat out refuse to pay more ever again to ATT or any other cable company. They offer nothing in return whatsoever. Ever thought about "cutting the cord" entirely? That's my next move once the current promotion runs out. Should you do that, you'll likely hear soon after what truly is the best they are willing to do to get you back. It's all such BS!
BTW - DirecTV Now has all the major local broadcast stations, including CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox. They've also added the NFL network, which we didn't have before.
We have Spectrum for our internet and pay $35/month for DirecTV Now.

Since they reward new customers vs old, you usually have to play the game of switching every couple of years.
I have also switched to DirecTVNow. Once they added CBS to the local market, it was a no-brainer since my contract was ending and going to go up huge. This was the only streaming option that has all of the local channels (please correct me if I'm wrong!).
One of the things to consider is bandwidth. I currently have Uverse GigaPower which gives me unlimited (no caps) internet. If your plan has a cap, then you'll need to take that into account before switching. Some caps are contingent upon having a second service but AT&T doesn't recognize DirecTVNow as a second service right now. Also, you only get 2 streams (watch on 2 devices simultaneously) at a time with the option of adding a 3rd for $5/mnth. You will need a device to run it on like an Apple TV or Roku (fyi I've found that the interface runs slower on a Roku TV).
The nice thing is that it runs on all of my devices very well. Nice to have the game on while waiting in line somewhere.
We cut the TWC cord a few years ago and went the Roku/Sling TV route. We had to keep internet and when AT&T U-verse and fiber came to the neighborhood, we signed on with AT&T for a fair price. I have no qualms about cancelling cable and going back to just Roku - it worked fine for us for years and will again. The cable companies need to get the message - the old service model doesn't work anymore and people are doing just fine using alternate options.
When we dropped TWC in 2015 our monthly bill was over $200 per month with NO premium channels. Cut the cable and went with just internet and phone and our bill dropped to $52 per month...no way the crap on cable TV is worth $150/month - and it is probably more at this point - got my scissors ready! Once the current "promotional" offer expires it is time to snip, snip, snip!!
