Maybe a better question is what businesses are donating? And what's a good group to donate to, Red Cross (not my favorite), etc.

you can like or dislike the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, or the Food Bank of ENC for whatever reason. But clearly they are the organizations that are going to get the donations on the ground, where they are needed, faster than anyone else.

Cash. Get your tax deduction, let them spend the money there or here, but let them do the logistics.

I think the NC Disaster Relief Fund will get donations on the ground immediately.

The Army or National Guard or someone is flying in Chinooks. Saw a couple of posts today.

The Durham hotel restaurant is doing a disaster relief dinner.

if anyone has questions as to what % of money a charity actually uses for it's programs - Charity Navigator is a good place to look that info up: https://www.charitynavigator.org/

One problem I have with the Red Cross is that you can donate money to benefit Florence victims, but they can/will use the money for somewhere else. I would prefer my donations to be used for what I intended them.

You can choose how you want your money spent, including spending it only on Florence relief.

World Central Kitchen has been down in Wilmington since before the storm.

I held my nose and gave the Red Cross some money then gave some to the Food Bank.
