Yes - it's extremely up and coming. Downtown Cary wasn't very desirable for a long time, but that's all changing.

Can you define what you mean by "good place to live "? It means different things to different people.

Crime data is available online using the Town of Cary's Maps Online tool.

Grocers are close by at Harrison & Maynard.

Train station in town will tell you when passenger trains stop, and freight trains pass through.

Like beer? Others will advise.

The area is being developed and town planners are trying to increase the density and walkability of the area. New restaurants have opened. Near the new park and new library is opening. Every old house that comes down one or two new larger homes are built.

Plenty of Beer places now in Downtown Cary. Bond Brothers, Pharmacy, ... etc and new ones opening. They have made it more walkable and family friendly. It has become more desirable than 10 years ago.
There is a new condo going up there (East Chatham), I believe they are selling north of $300k !!! This will only continue to drive prices up.

I don’t normally equate urban places that have beer and restaurant places as family friendly and great area to raise kids. Also Cary schools near downtown don’t have high grades.

It’s like saying downtown raleigh is a great place to raise kids.

To each their own, but if you automatically read "beer" and write off an entire area as a good place to live, ignoring all the other cultural experiences that a place has to offer, you might want to re-evaluate your perceptions.

Are you looking for an investment home or looking for a place to settle with your family? Your post is confusing.

There are pretty much no places in Cary that aren't suitable for raising a family.

Investment? No one has a crystal ball.

Schools are fine. Are they the highest rated in Wake County? No but there are other factors involved in those ratings. They ARE however, in a state of flux....there's a major reassignment proposal on the table and it is affecting people in downtown (which is a shock to those who live there).

I wouldn't hesitate to live in or near downtown Cary with kids. Have a friend who just moved over there from the vaunted west side of Cary.
