We need to get out of the house for a little bit Xmas eve after dinner while a surprise gets assembled. Any ideas of something holiday oriented that is open that evening? Not opposed to traveling within the triangle area as we need to kill time anyway

Drive around and see some lights. That can kill as much or as little time as needed, especially if you throw in a stop for.a Christmas themed snack.

If you need a few hours movies are always open.

Not really holiday oriented, but the Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth is really nice. Just be sure to get your tickets in advance so you're not standing in line in the cold.

We can narrow down the ideas we give you if you tell us what the surprise is.

Then you should should have sent it as a DM to the OP. No idea what "back to your eggnog" means. Nonetheless, the question remains, what difference does it make what the surprise is?

No, he shouldn't - it's a valid question.

Is this a lacrosse goal or a pitchback where it's simply a matter of de-boxing it and connecting some tubes? A spin around the neighborhood for some Christmas light touring would fit the bill. Is this a basketball goal or a bicycle that needs to be put together? A movie might be best.

If the OP says what the surprise is, someone with experience with the thing might say "here's how long that might take" and "here's what I did when we had to do that". But really, the OP is the one who is free to answer the question or not. Petty individual grievances are what should stay in the domain of the DM (see RedZin's sticky note about appropriate posts for the forum).

Hi Twingles - You mean like "That message was not intended for you back to your eggnog"? That sort of petty, individual grievance?

My question was sincere, and not at all out of line. The poster could have simply answered it, or ignored it, instead of responding with something that violates the TOS, which states "No personal attacks or insults". So lets drop the phony, self-righteous indignation please.
