Does anyone have experience with a podiatrist that permanently corrected this issue for them?
This last one I had convinced me I need a permanent fix.
Such a small thing but oh so painful.
Thank you for this and for the bit of humor .
I had read thru this thread prior to posting and was reaching out to see if anyone had a more current experience. I also forgot to mention that I need someone in the UNC network and although I am in southern Wake, I will travel for a good doc.
A friend of my grandfather's gave me this advice when I was a pre-teen, and it still works:
File the nail straight across the top with an aggressive emery board until it's pink in the middle. The nail will grow together to fill in the thin spot, and therefore away from the sides where it's ingrown. Repeat as necessary.

Yeah that's not how nails work lol
Had this procedure done 15 years ago when genetics just refused to cooperate with my anatomy. They cut both sides and burned the nail bed. Best thing ever and pretty cheap cash price (no insurance back then).
