Posting this locally because I know there are boatloads of houses around here that have the same builder-grade laminate cabinets from the 90s/00s.
We have white laminate cabinets, and the laminate is peeling off some of the doors. I believe this type of laminate is called "thermofoil", but if anyone can confirm that would be helpful.
We have no desire to replace all the cabinets, and are perfectly fine just replacing the doors. Has anyone done this, and had issues with the doors matching the rest of the cabinet? Our cabinets are sort of "off white", and I'm not sure if that's just how the color has aged, or if that's how they were originally. We could always have the rest of the cabinet painted to match, but would like to avoid if possible.
Also any recommendations on where to buy? Seem to be plenty online places that stock them.
I went to Apex Cabinet Company to get a replacement drawer front for my peeling thermofoil drawer before selling my last place. I brought the peeling part in and they matched it.
Looks like the name might have changed: MARKRAFT CABINETS, 1051 Schieffelin Rd, Apex, NC 27502
Mine specifically was Aristokraft, which they sell.
We looked into replacing the doors and it was comparable to replacing the cabinets, FYI. But if you want to pursue that route we used someone with top reviews on angies list for the quote. Wound up painting them white instead.
Lots of neighbors have had this issue and wound up replacing either doors or cabinets, most did the full cabinets to optimize storage space or used it as an opportunity to update the kitchen in general. Thankfully our newer house doesn’t have this issue.

Really? I looked up thermofoil cabinet doors online and they seemed very inexpensive, plus there isn’t the labor of take down and installing new cabinets. Why was your quote so expensive?
We are fine with the layout of the cabinets, and the cabinet bases are in fine shape for the most part. Seems crazy to replace everything.
Look into cabinet refacing, m378. It's generally much cheaper and probably pretty easily with the thermofoil since that comes off pretty easily.
Will do - thanks
