It was a straw man, red herring proposal.
Had to convince the Feds that they considered more options.
Never stood a chance of serious consideration, IMO. Just a waste of time and money.

The Planning Commission is not a joke. They take their responsibilities seriously and did their jobs well.

So, I find it interesting that they are dropping the NCFC down a level. But they want tax breaks to build a huge new stadium and eventually jump to MSL? Guess they think fans will come out in droves for a lower level product.

This right here. I wish more people would take the time to understand that.

Meanwhile it impacted thousands of home and property owners as they were stuck in a decade long purgatory unable to sell their property. It was madness and hurt a lot of people. Hard not to feel a little picked on...

I think the point though is that people and politicians helped caused their own problem there. State lawmakers in 2011 passed legislation to prohibit the DOT from even studying the red route, but federal transportation officials said North Carolina couldn't receive any federal funding for the toll road if the route wasn't included in environmental studies.

As mentioned above, the red route never had a shot in hell of really happening. They needed it though as an alternative, as something to point to for process reasons. People and politicians started flinging their arms around and throwing up roadblocks which prolonged the problem.

People can be their own worst enemies.

It will be interesting to see if the league goes with the relegation-promotion model that the English Premier League uses.

Meh, that's right. I probably won't go to a League One game, tbh. We need a legitimate MSL especially if they are going to build that stadium.

I would probably go see Courage play though. I am guessing they'll play in that stadium... or will they stick to WakeMed (is that the current one?)?
