Yes, I agree that Wilmington is probably the closest thing NC has to Greenville in terms of size, atmosphere, regional economy, and such. But it's not in the triangle.
Of course there's Asheville too, which is kind of it's own thing, more heavily tourist-focused than Greenville or even Wilmington, but undeniably really nice. Also not in the triangle.
