I don't really know what's happening here, but I am entirely intrigued

I’d say lets meet up at a coffee shop for a socially distance cup of joe outside. But, there’s obviously no coffee shops to meet up at.

Maybe the OP is looking for an Amsterdam style coffee shop?

What is this person even talking about? I can think of 4 independent coffee shops in just little Garner alone.

Avesboro Coffee (Daughter worked here)
Ugly Mugg
Lorraine's Coffee
Full Bloom Coffee

...and yes there are even 3 Starbucks and 2 Targets here also.

Raleigh has ten times that many.

I really need to take up coffee. Would love to hold a mug up to my mouth and give someone a side-eyed look.

I agree with the OP with one caveat. I have an independent coffee shop close to where I work (Deja Brew). But if I work from home it doesn't help me. I live out in Brier Creek. We have Caribou (terrible), Starbucks (terrible but acceptable) and soon our own Dunkin' Donuts. (Don't get me started.) Any others that I missed? I wish we could have our own Joe Van Gogh coffee shop.

I think it's much better if you aren't living in the suburbs. Meaning, much better if you are in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, Cary, etc.

Brier Creek has never been the place to find independent businesses in general tbh
