Hello Everyone:

My family will be moving into our new house in 6-7 months. Our lease is currently scheduled to end on 7/1/21. We have asked our landlord about extending a few months so we would not have to move twice in a short time frame. In the event we are denied our extension request, I was wondering if anyone could recommend short term/furnished rental options. We would need a 2/3 bedroom and want to be 30 min or less from the Briar Chapel community.

Thanks everyone!

I'd opt for Airbnb. Otherwise it would be difficult to find a short-term house rental.

If your landlord hesitates, try to negotiate. Don't just give up. Why move twice? Try to talk to your landlord and offer a bit more $$$ for them to keep you for another 6-7 months. Offer to sign a 6-7 month lease with new terms. Honestly, between the time you spend packing/unpacking, paying for storage, new deposits, etc. you might as well pay a bit more and stay where you are. Landlords can be pretty reasonable. If you are a good tenant, there is no reason for them to say no. Unless of course they want you guys out and sell the place. Otherwise, vacancy now or vacancy in 6 months, they have to deal with it regardless. If I were your landlord, I'd be delighted to extend because I'd probably fill the vacancy with good (and income verifiable) tenants after the pandemic is over.

I’ll echo the Airbnb route. It should be more comfortable and less expensive.

There are companies that have corporate housing...fully furnished, down to linens and cookware.

Here is one that sends me emails from time to time. I've not had any clients use them but I kept their information, in case.
