Update: I'll be working near Fred G. Bond Metro Park in Cary. I received some recommendations near Raleigh to check out (Five Points, Glenwood South, Cameron Village, North Hills, Crabtree). I'd love to be a walkable area where I could get to coffee shops, breweries, stores, etc., without having to walk far. Not sure if there's an area where I can get this and a garage, but worth asking.
Thanks for the recommendations so far. I did stumble upon the Carolina Canoe Club, a disc golf league, and an adult hockey league! So I'm sure I'll stay plenty busy.
Well, all those places meet your needs. Definitely would be commutable in under 40 minutes. If you want to live closer to work check out Park West in Morrisville which is a huge shopping area with a lot of different kinds of apartments nearby. Would be more than 10 minutes to Bond Park. But - it's a suburb.
