So, Google just made a major update to their Earth historical photos. They have 3D visualizations in lots of places and now it can runs them like a movie. Pretty comical seeing anywhere in the area, but especially centering the map on say what is now Davis Dr and seeing Morrisville and Cary develop Since the mid 80s

Damn, some of it is so sad. Check the deforestation and select one of the 17 featured forests, Itauba, Mato Grosso in Brazil. The difference between 1985 and 2020 is so devastating.

Most people are surprised to learn that the amount of U.S. forest land today is about the same as 100 years ago. Although urbanization, suburbanization, and industrialization have claimed forest land, it's been offset by the enormous increase in agricultural productivity and the reclamation of 18th and 19th century farms as forest. On a regional basis, this is particularly true in the North. Forest land in the South is down slightly, forest land in the West is down somewhat more.
Wow this is cool. Thanks for sharing. Screw Valheim, I'm playing with Google Earth all weekend hahaha
