Volunteering in the area (Raleigh, Wake Forest: groceries, homeless, Walmart)

Has anyone had experience or heard of experiences of volunteering at any of these or related organizations?:

We've bought meals and groceries for people we've seen on the streets in the Wake Forest Road area near Walmart but this is sporadic. These are older people and not like the ones I see at traffic intersections. One guy we did this for we have not seen since and wanted to help.
