Well it was mostly a joke... but in Bumble date (at least for opposite-sex matches) only the female can initiate conversation if there is a match.

Thus I would be curious if there would be similar parameters for the roommate finder setting ( I/E...the person with the available space is the only one who can initiate a conversation if there is a "match".....though I assume probably not)

I believe it just requires a mutual match. Then either can initiate.

Okay, all points noted....would 1200 be a better figure?

This is the answer. I was a low paid graduate in the early years after college and had a roommate for the first 3 years.

Sorry, but at 45k, unless you plan to help support her, she's probably going to need a roommate to afford a decent place. Her gross pay is less than 4k a month! There are crummy little places that are affordable, but something tells me you both won't like them.

Sterling Glenwood or Sojourn have studios/1BR $1,200 or less.

Check out Jones Grant Urban Flats. It's safe and close to 440 and lots of stuff. They have studios that start at $1050. Lots of young people, a pool, and a nice gym.

I would also recommend a roommate though.

if Jones Grant has them, that's another very good option, though marginally below the 2 on Glenwood at Crabtree that I mentioned. Certainly can cross the street to the Trader Joes/Wegmans shopping/dining better than the Glenwood area.
