How do they know your roof is/could be in bad shape? Because of the age of your house?
Note says that they sent someone out to evaluate it. Pretty sure it's time to switch. My agent (who was a friend) left State Farm so they sent my account to some random guy I've never met. I realize that probably has little to do with SF sending out someone to evaluate the roof....but still seems to be an indicator that a switch may be needed.

Is it a new house? Honestly I’m kind of glad they’re being proactive about roofs. It’s time for this craziness to end.

Many roofing companies now do estimates using sattelite imaging of the roof and never set foot on you property. Supposedly in Florida you have to replace the roof every 8-10 years to keep your house insured due to hurricanes.

State Farm occasionally sends out surveyors to assess the property at random times. Usually for long existing customers. In my experience, they always find something wrong for you to fix. Most people either leave State Farm and go somewhere else, or full on switch companies.
They can't really tell by 'satellite imaging'. Those photos wouldn't be sufficient enough for the underwriting department.
What I was told was, every 15-17 years somebody files a home insurance claim and if people go 10-15 years with out filing a claim... State Farm will try to find things to fix/or just weed people out in general.
Sure it happens in Home Departments everywhere... I just worked mostly with Home Insurance in NC NY NJ MA PA and GA through State Farm.
They aren't my go to insurance company for Home. I did not like a lot of what I saw... Shop!
Amica homeowner's insurance went up 30% this year. Anyone have better luck switching companies or is it the same everywhere? Can't deal with this every year.

I switched from Amica to Erie and saved 36% on my homeowner's insurance alone. You've just got to shop around every now and then.

Thanks, just switched from Amica to Allstate and saved 40% on homeowner's insurance for the next policy year!
