I viewed older posts recommending surgeons but I wanted to ask again since the last post is about 8 years old. I went to Raleigh Orthopedics and didn't mind the Doctor (Dr Isbell) but I wanted to get a second opinion on my MRI. Looking for a recommendation and I live in Wake Forest. Thank you.
I did NOT have a good experience with Speer at all, FWIW. He was highly recommended, missed some issues in my shoulder that I am now stuck with until I am old enough to have a full replacement done.
Awesome doctor, repaired my daughter's shoulder couple years ago. I see him regularly to keep my very damaged (unrepairable) shoulder working. Highly recommended, straight shooter, tells it like it is, will NOT do surgery if not needed.
Dr. Joseph Barker - Raleigh Orthopedic Clinic (ROC)
Dr. Barker does "joints". He did both my daughters hips, I see him for my hip problems but he does shoulders as well. Does work for the Hurricanes. Great man, great doctor. Highly recommend.

That's who did my husband's last surgery, which had been botched by a VA doctor. He has underlying issues (muscular dystrophy) which is causing extra problems for him (that surgery was his 5th, the VA surgeon had broken off a needle in his arm and was unable to retrieve it). Then the VA didn't give him enough PT which we were offsetting by going to the gym and then COVID hit. Now he needs a total shoulder replacement. I don't blame Dr. Speer, I blame the VA. If they had just paid for more PT, they wouldn't be paying for a shoulder replacement. Talk about being short sighted!
