I tried Randy's on Lake Boone Trail for lunch today and was thoroughly impressed. The things I like best about the slices were the thinness of the crust and crunchiness of the outer crust, and the flavor of the sauce. Absolutely delicious.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on this gem. Raleigh has no shortage of good places to eat.

I'd better get there before I go on the next pizza hiatus

If a restaurant and quality of food can impress me, then it's saying something. I'm a bit of a food snob. LOL

We were regulars at Lake Boone when we lived in Raleigh. We ate occasionally at the Miami Blvd. location. They both had really good cheese pizza. We didn’t order anything else.

I wanted to throw my vote in the wind for crumbled sausage vs sliced sausage. Cristo's does sliced but it's very thinly sliced so I feel like I can tolerate that.

Vivo Ristorante off Six Forks at Sawmill had huge thick slices of sausage. No bueno.

Ditto on the crumbled. The shredded sausage is interesting though, I like it too.

Never got their sausage but I like their meatball topping. So far Vivo is the best pizza in the immediate area (Salvios, Cristos, Vic's, another I can't recall) for me and when I can't be bothered to go to Oakbox. There's surely as many places that I haven't tried yet.

I'm a huge fan of Vivo - it's such an underrated Italian place in Raleigh compared to other places

I'm very glad to hear that others like it as much as we do.

It was the last restaurant we went to before shut down, then the first when we were all vaccinated. The symmetry of that appeals to me. I've never had the pizza, but everything else has always been wonderful.

I do remember thinking I wanted to try their other menu items because a lot of it looked good as did the reviews. These reports have definitely solidified that we need to eat there again! So far, pizza is our only experience at Vivo and it was a solid 3/5.
