I haven’t cut my hair since the pandemic started. I have to head back into the office in the fall, so I finally need to get it cleaned up a bit. I’m planning on keeping it long, but it needs some styling for sure. Perhaps I’ll channel my inner John Wick. Any recommendations for a stylist in the Apex/Cary area? A long time ago I had long hair and learned the hard way that many stylists were used to women’s hair and it just didn’t look right.

My hair is not as long as yours, but it was nightmarish getting someone who cared to maintain it how I wanted, at the length I want.
No more salons that serve women, that is for sure. I hoped to have a stylist with some real skills, but that was very difficult to find.

I have been going to Lady Jane's for months now, and like that they actually just want to know how I want to look.
https://www.ladyjanes.com/ 27513, off the NW Cary Parkway.
All they do is men's hair. It's sort of a cheesy, faux-jock place, but it works for me.
It probably helps that I tip quite well, but the price is so low, I almost have to do so to feel right about it.

Thanks, Mike. I actually used to go to Lady Jane’s a few years ago. I was getting a great hair cut, until she moved to AK. Luckily the next person gave a pretty good hair cut too, but she moved to the Raleigh location. After 2 terrible haircuts with different people as a walk in, I stopped going. Do you regularly use the same person?

I am on my third.
One moved to Charlotte, husband transferred.
One went to Durham to manage that shop.

So, I go to Taylor, for several months, now.
I like to say, "I will never stop coming in because you leave too much hair. Just take the wild ones..."
She has it figured out.

If she didn't cut your hair before, might be surprising. She has been there for about 10 years, she says.

I am a dude with long hair (goes to mid-shoulder blades) and I go to AlterEgo in downtown Raleigh when I need hair care. They are a bit pricey but you really get what you pay for. They know their stuff and will make you look great. Highly recommend!

I have heard good things about this place and agree with LordHelmit regardless, you get what you pay for currently. Most haircut places have raised their prices and remains very subpar in quality. They don't have any good workers or people who care. You should probably go to more upscale salons who actually care, but that will be pricey.

I might have to make the trek to Raleigh. I don’t mind paying a premium, especially as I haven’t spent a dime on a haircut in 18 months! Was just hoping to find someone a little closer.

I don't have long hair, but have had longer hair in the past and liked that they did a good job keeping it longer.

I'd make an appointment at LJ's for one you like/trust. I can't say that I've had a bad one at the Cary Parkway location, but mostly have gone to the Raleigh location the last several years.
