Hi, we were looking at different charter schools for our soon to be 9th grader. We read a lot about Raleigh Charter (which seems fantastic) but know a lot less about Research Triangle High School. Open to any thoughts and background on the school and please DM me if easier to chat offline.

Thanks in advance!

Research Triangle is a reverse classroom and many classes are self-paced which is amazing or a disaster depending on the student. I think the ideal student there is self-driven and doesn't need a lot of hand holding on due dates. They had a very thorough tour and presentation with the principal if you are still able to attend one. My sophomore applied and was accepted, but we ended up at another charter. A handful of his 8th grade classmates also applied and toured. All of the kids that went loved it except us, it was a like for us. We actually went back for an additional tour another weekend in case we were unfairly judging it based on a not so great student guide experience. I personally thought the principal was fantastic, he was involved with Raleigh Charter prior, I forget in what capacity. I think my son could have thrived with their set-up as he needs to be challenged and is highly motivated. Our private K-8 Vice Principal sent her daughter there, a former classmate, they are very happy. We toured so many schools, my son loved the charter he is in and Wake Stem Early College that he did not get accepted into with their very low lottery odds. He's a math and science kid, but I know Research Triangle has a great arts program too and the connections with area businesses and opportunities they offer students is another asset. Good luck with the decision!
