I was driving down the road and this guy stopped at the next light and motioned me to roll down the window. He said "your car is making a noise that I think is the timing belt about to go bad. I own a shop, follow me there and I'll fix it for you. I can get your insurance to pay for it too".

I said OK and we did just that. Then I was surprised my rates went up.

And when my timing belt really did bust, I couldn't find this guy.

I agree completely and have heard this, if this ends up happening there will be an entire neighborhood complaining. However, before I did even started thinking about this I did check the background and the company has great reviews and has been around for a while. Does not appear fly by night.

Good analogy. Could very well be what is happening; but then again, I'm not a roofer. Could whatever is done not be necessary, sure absolutely.
