Pref near Brier Creek/Cary, but not absolute.

Mostly fiction from the last 10 years, hardcover and paperback.

I normally donate to Durham Rescue Mission, but do they have much need for books? (NOT GOODWILL, PLEASE!)

Maybe give the library a quick call? Years ago, I asked the librarian if they accepted donations. She said they were very happy to accept them. If they could put them into circulation they would. They had arrangements with several other organizations to donate the rest.

We have given many books to the library. The ones they don't want usually end up at their annual book sale.

Thanks everyone. In the past, I've always donated books to the public library. Now that I use a kindle exclusively, I guess I was assuming they didn't want them anymore.

Thx for reminding of the definition of 'assume'.

Durham County Library has this info page about accepting book donations and their book sales: https://fodlnc.org/donate/donate-books/
I'm not sure if this is a new thing they're doing since the pandemic, or if it's unrelated to the pandemic, but that's how they're doing it now.

Wake County has established similar policies. They sell the books themselves directly to an online book seller. No more Friends of the Library on-site sales. I'm guessing Durham County is doing the same.

You can also donate any children's books in good shape to Book Harvest. Great organization.
