Definitely going to do this for wiring etc. that drops from attic to junctions and canlights, etc, before the insulation crew. Ducting and chases are *under the main level (single story 'rancher') and come upward from our full basement ...so nothing to seal from above, that way. Thanks again, all!
Mind the can lights. Some are made to be covered with insulation, boxes, etc.
Many older ones MUST NOT be covered, as they create enough heat to be a distinct fire hazard.
Make certain you know which you have before proceeding to seal them.

Honestly, if you were interested in upgrading cans at some point, changing them out to one of the new puck lights can make a huge difference. They’re LED and about the thickness of the drywall so you can cover with full insulation plus they have a good seal.
But it’s not cost effective on its own payback wise so it only makes sense if you wanted to upgrade them anyway.

Those do look great, Sheriff. With six cans in the kitchen, and 20?! in our finished basement, I will *not be replacing any of them anytime soon. But LED is the future. Love em. Thank you for all of your expertise.
