Due to my job I'll be part-time in Raleigh for the next 12-18 months. Sometimes there for weeks at a time, then again gone for 2-8 weeks.
Normally a hotel + rental car might be the more flexible route, but times have changed and relying on sometimes extreme rental car prices might not be a good idea these days. Plus, there's a convenience factor of having a small apartment throughout that time.
Leaving my car unattended in a common area for such long periods isn't ideal. Are there rental complexes in the Raleigh area which offer personal garages? Preferably central / newer.
When we moved here our house wasn't finished being built so we looked for an apartment that had attached garages. We found one in Wakefield (Residences at Wakefield). It was a pretty large two bedroom apartment (over 1500sf) with a 2-1/2 car garage which was perfect for us to store our belongs in for the time being.
When my daughter was in college she also rented at a few places by NC State (and also Cary) that also had garages. I believe those were not attached and they were single garages that you could rent in addition to your rented unit. Where they might be in the complex could be far from your unit though.
If you check out apartments.com, you can filter your search to show the complexes that have garages available (as well as any other criteria you may have.

Thanks for any recommendations!
Define Central, as this area is kinda spread out. There are places in Briar Creek that have individual garages, but you might also look for a townhouse to rent. Brier Creek is convenient to the airport, equidistant to Raleigh and Durham (more or less,) and close to Research Triangle Park. It wouldn't be my first choice if I expected to be in downtown Raleigh a lot.
Also, FWIW, plenty of nicer places have private garages that aren't personal, and I wouldn't worry about leaving my car in one of those.
Thanks, some good advice and recommendations already, the named places all look promising.
"Central" is relative in my case. I'm in fact not looking to go out daily or have to commute to downtown. Brier Creek would be just as fine as Cary or Raleigh.
I just associate a newer property that's targeting the professional crowd with convenience, for my situation. I guess the perfect place would be walkable or at least close by to shopping and have pretty modern amenities, fiber internet and such. One might call it a "young professional" type of property, although I've aged out of this demographics E.g. some North Hills type apartment might be perfect, if it had a good parking situation and a 1BR isn't outrageously expensive.
Inman Park Apartments has some units with garages. I recently inquired about the price and availability, and they responded that a 1-bedroom with garage was/is available in July @$1733. But I agree with JONOV that you could find a townhouse (with garage) to rent at about that same price or a couple hundred more.

I lived here years ago. Of note, the garages here are attached and provide inner access to living area. Most garages are separate to the unit so both can be rented independently.
Unless I've missed it, the next question HAS to be "what is your budget including any garage rent"?
