Just read over on the Triangle Food Blog that the former First Citizens Bank in the Millpond Shopping Center (on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary) is going to become a Chipotle with a drive-thru. Renovations are still in the early stages.

It's not going to be a traditional drive-thru. It will be pickup only per the plans (note at left in below image):
That is a good idea. I can see it speeding up pick-up orders.
But I assume most people will place the order at the window / in the drive-thru line which can cause a slow down. Just imagine somebody placing a large digital order while in line.
Looks like a one car width lane.

I haven't been, but from driving past it, I think the Chipolte at Carver St. and N. Roxboro St. in north Durm is also a drive thru.
I guess Luddite's like me, that don't have every chain's app on their phone, are not welcome. I bet there will be a number of folks that pull up and try to order, like at a normal drive-thru. That will certainly mess up their 12-second turn around time.

You should try it - it really does make things easier for everyone including yourself. Plus many places will give you free stuff for using the app.
I use the chick fil a app, it’s great. It takes me all of 20 seconds to put in my order, I hop in the car, drive thru, and I’m done. Occasionally something on my order will be free if I’ve gained enough points. Chick fil a is amazing at running their drive thru, but if everyone uses the app it would be even faster.
One of the best things to come out of Covid is a lot of food/retail stepped up their game with online ordering and curbside pickup.
