Hi, bit of a very specific question. For anyone who knows the Durham, NC area - where we could park our 28' travel trailer just for a few hours in the afternoon (Friday) which would be close enough to walk to the Duke admissions office for a campus tour for our daughter?
Or if nothing is walkable, somewhere close that we could park our trailer, disconnect the truck to drive to campus, and come back to hook back up a few hours later?
TIA

I'm not sure, but I think Walmart allows "RV" parking, so that might be an option? I'd probably check though before disconnecting and leaving unattended (and others can say if it's safe or not).

Walkable to Duke is going to be nearly impossible, I think. Maybe within "uber distance" is a better goal?

I would suggest calling the admissions office. They can probably either suggest someplace to park, or put you in touch with someone who would have suggestions (like maybe campus security?)

Just ask the admissions officers. They can tell you all about parking and may be able to point you to where folks tailgate or let you use a parking place that out of season athletic teams use for their buses or something. I don't think it's a super unusual request. There are literal busloads of kids that come to Duke for field trips and other events and those buses have to park somewhere.

You could pay for an overnight at Falls Lake. It's not terribly expensive, but it's about 30 minutes to drive to Duke.

This place has a huge parking lot: https://nasher.duke.edu/
I once parked a 28 passenger van there for a few hours to take some family on a tour around Duke. I doubt anyone will care if you park there but you could give a call to be sure.
My daughter went to Duke - it's such a great school.

I am guessing you can park at the post office on Kangaroo St. Big lot always empty. From there you can either walk to campus (less than a mile) or take a Duke bus that picks up in corner of Lasalle and Kangaroo every 20 min.
