Does it bother you when people say, "real- a - tor", adding a third syllable where God intended for there to be just two?

I know it drives me crazy, but I think it's just the teacher in me

The last time I tried to politely correct an acquitance, it was not well received.

What say you all? Should it a class 2 misdemeanor?

LOL
"I don't care what you call me as long as you call me for dinner!"
It is so common, hardly worth paying attention.

Oh..
It is "REALTOR," not "realtor."

Yes. It bothers me too. But so does using "aks" instead of "ask" and "perscription" instead of "prescription"

Prescription probably has a 80% mispronunciation rate; easy to trip up on that one.

It doesn't bother me much. I've been called worse things than a Real-a-tor....

That being said; it seems odd that the mispronunciation actually requires more effort to dictate than the correct pronunciation. I'm having trouble thinking of another oft-mispronounced word where that is the case....

It would seem that way, but I think the added "a" helps it roll off the tongue smoother.

In the south we never let a little extra work saying something getting in the way of some strange overwrought diction, LOL.

On a first date with a realtor, I said real-a-tor and he corrected me saying it's one of the most mispronounced words in the English language. I wasn't offended at all and was glad he told me. He never got a second date from me because he's a cigarette smoker, I could never deal with being around smoke all the time.
