Signs were unveiled today, May 24, 2024 for "Future I-685" on parts of US 421 between Greensboro and Sanford. Exactly how much work it will take to bring the road up to current Interstate standards -- especially between Sanford and Dunn, where some of the road is two lanes -- remains to be seen. No schedule yet.
