Though I'd post something we figured we'd do this weekend ourselves and share it with the rest of those interested. The NC Fairgrounds have several activities this weekend including the activities posted below.

The Boat Show is one of them. Haven't ever been nor are we in a position to buy a boat yet, but we figured we'd have a little fun trying some on for size:
Raleigh Summer Boat Show & Sale (FREE Admission) - June 5-8
12 pm - 7 pm Thursday
12 pm - 7pm on Friday
9 am - 7 pm on Saturday
10 am - 5 pm on Sunday.

The other event we're anticipating attending is the following:
1st Annual Got to Be NC Festival - June 5-8
3 pm - Midnight, Thursday and Friday
10 am to Midnight, Saturday and Sunday
www.ncagfest.com.

The freebies:
-Largest assembly of antique farm equipment in NC
-Full carnival with games, rides and food.
-The official N.C. Barbecue Cooking Championship
-Got to be NC Agriculture Food Expo (Samples and Buy).
-Petting Zoo.
-Pig Races.
-Fireworks each night.
The non-freebies:
-Horse pull on Friday
-Antique tractor pulls on Saturday and Sunday
-Grandstand Concerts
Non freebies include rides, games and grandstand activites - $5 admission for horse pull, tractor pulls, grandstand concerts.

Just arrived home from the fairgrounds and watching Attonement on the lawn at the museum. The festival was quite fun with lots of vendors serving up samples of barbecue, chips, nuts and loads of other goodies. Lots of old antique tractors too. I did not grow up with tractors, but looking at the wide variety of them dating way back in history was quite interesting. Seemed like a lot of people took great pride in their tractors. Rides and unhealthy tasty fair food too. It was hot & humid out, but manageable. We'll be visiting again tomorrow just for the social aspect.
