Looking to move to Wake or Jonhston County. Wanting good schools, and to find a house for about $275,000 to $300,000. We need a 4+3 with bonus. What is out there. How is the cost of living, are people friendly. Lived in Ca. my whole life this is a big change. Any help is wanted and needed. Thanks,

Hi there,

Check out www.timcostin.com (broken link). He has mostly Clayton listings. He might have something like what you are seeking.

Hey there from one native CA to another. I don't want to start a huge debate which seems to be happening on here much lately but if you are looking for better schools I would stay withing the Wake or Orange county school districts. In your price range you will get more for you money in Wake than Orange. I think amost anywhere in wake has decent good schools. Do you know where you will be working yet? That will have much to do with where in wake you want to be commute wise. Some areas to check out

North Raleigh
Wake Forest
Apex
Cary
Holly Springs
Fuquay Varina

You will definitely get more house for your money here. Overall price of living IMO is not much less on daily things. Groceries don't seem any less. Gas is slightly less. Home and car Insurance went down for us about $100 a year. Utilities are about the same except for Gas which is higher (using heat more than you would in CA). Eating out is the same. Clothing the same. If youhave any specific questions you can PM me. We moved from Southern CA. We love it and it is proving to be a fantastic place to raise our kiddos!

I'm not sure, but for $200K you could probably find a nice townhome in Bedford, Falls River, or even Wakefiled Plantation - they are all very nice communitites wuth nice ammenities like clubhouses, parks, and pools. Of course HOA fees come along with that as wel. They are all located off of Falls of The Neuse Road north of I-540. About a 25 minute commute to downtown Raleigh. I don't know how long it takes to get to RTP from there since I don't work there and don't have any first hand experience. Hope that helps!

You may wantt to post a new thread about this isntead of adding it to this one so you get more responses. Good Luck!
