Has anyone ever used the greenway system in Southeast Raleigh? Specifically from:
the Lake Wheeler Rd entrance (across from the Farmers Market), South Saunders St/Hammond Street/Garner Rd/Slate Street/Rock Quarry Rd/Rose Street.
It looks like a great trail that essentially runs along Walnut Creek. My only reservation is that it goes near/through some not so safe areas of town. I've never had any problems biking on Raleigh's greenway system in the past. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I can only speak to the portion of the greenway that I have walked with friends in my community during daylight hours (group of approx. 8 people). We began at S. State St. and stopped just short of Rose St., and I had no concerns for my safety. Had I not been with this group, I would feel comfortable walking the trail with just 1 other person.
I've been on miles and miles of the greenways and never felt they were in any way unsafe. I do a lot of running on them and of course would only go during daylight hours. We're really blessed to have these wonderful trails.
Thanks for the input! I'm looking forward to trying this section out this spring. Anyone else please free to chime in as well. Thanks!
