Yeah, I had complained to the 27707 PO quite a while back. Afterwards, it seemed that the misdeliveries actually got WORSE, so I began to fear retribution by our mail carrier! So, I put up and shut up.
Good idea about putting the name on the mailbox! I'm going to take care of that today!
You need to offer cold drinks and cookies to your mail carrier. And Christmas cards. It works!
btw, my mom lives in a teeny tiny town and the post master there is even more hideous than anything described here. The postmaster sends back any mail that is not addressed to the exact name of the box (they don't have street service), locks the building after 5, and yells at the residents for stupid reasons.
I'm in the 27705 zip code and have had a little trouble with our mail as well (mainly messing up holds for vacations). I also find it strange that sometimes my mail gets delivered quite late (sometimes after 5:00 p.m.).
I have to agree with the person who posted about the Kangaroo St. Post Office. The service is terrible-- rude and unfriendly people working there who sometimes look at the long line of customers and just slowly and deliberately walk around and do other things. I can understand if they have to sometimes do things in between customers, but they seem to relish making people wait and move at a snail's pace. I don't get it. But then again, just the other day, one of the postal carriers had a package for me, and instead of putting the yellow card in my mailbox and forcing me to go to that nasty Kangaroo branch, just walked it over to my apartment and left it on my doorstep! I was pleasantly surprised!

Well, you know what I'm going to say about that--one should not have to gift another person to do what they are already being paid to do. And, if they are dissatisfied with their job in any way (pay, hours, etc) they should have a work ethic strong enough to realize that taking it out on the customers is NOT the way to go.
Yup, I'm being a judgemental moralizer, but look at all the people who have responded to this post...when people don't do their jobs, we all suffer.
