My new dream house is located in the Historic Raleigh Neighborhood of Mordecai. I love the look of this home and the location is sweet! Here are two pictures I took earlier this week of my latest dream house!
Current Dream House
This house is a close Second! My wife loves brick and I love those awesome trees!
I have several (sorry, no pics)! There are more than a few in Historic Oakwood, a few in Mordecai, Five Points, Cameron Park and Hayes Barton. Almost forgot Boylan Heights, I know there's a couple there, too. I'm sure there are others that I haven't even seen yet!
All those areas are great... but when I used to do my weekend driving I always loved Mordecai and Historic Oakwood. There were a few streets in particular that I enjoyed going by. I also still like some of the downtown condos, two different lifestyles but they both have their appeal.
There are two on Surrey Road in historical Hope Valley (Durham) that I love. One was recently for sale. Near Hope Valley Road, beautiful landscaping and hardscaping--curvy walls. The other is near the intersection of Cornwall and Surrey. For some reason it looks British to me. Tall and thin, brick and an elegant stairway entrance.
I love all the pictures you've posted of these historic ITB neighborhoods NRG. I'd look there in a heartbeat if we didn't have 3 kids and schools to worry about.
I like the second house best---so I'm with your wife on that!
NRG, I'm with your wife. I love the brick, the big trees, and the forest green shutters. I blame my love of forest green shutters on watching "Hello Dolly" too often in my youth.
I definitely do not have one single dream home in this area. There are too many special neighborhoods to narrow it down that much! But the neighborhood I drive through the most just for the joy of it is Hope Valley in Durham. Like WeLoveDurham, I'm especially fond of the Tudor style mansions there.
Wow, I'm with you on your dream house! the first one - my dream house must have a front porch. So my dream house would be either located in Mordecai as well...or in Trinity Park in Durham...or a historic home in Hillsborough.
However I could go to the other extreme and say I'd like a modernist house with tons of windows up a small hill in Orange County, with lots of trees around.
Love love love the grand oak trees in your second pic! Something I really miss about Florida.
