Okay, I hope this is okay to post here....But I am wondering if anyone knows what age is okay to consider piercing a baby´s ears ?
In my Country (Spain) Doctors do it immediately after birth, at my daugher´s pedriatic center (cary) they told me the won´t do it anymore as she is 10 months ( they don´t do it after 2 months) but in another pleaces I asked after birth they told me they don´t do it before 2 months, So I am confused

Does anybody knows a Pediatric or Center that may do it ?, I know you can buy the kit at the Clarie´`s store at the Mall,...but not sure I trust them to do it...

Any help will be highly appreciated
Thanks again

Montserrat

I apologize in advance, and offer no information relevant to your question.

WHY????

I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was three months old. My pediatrician told me that if I was going to do it (she was against it), that it is best to do it while the ear lobes are very thin and while she was young enough to not pull at them or notice them. They healed in no time and I never had a bit of trouble with them. Also, pediatricians offices do not do the piercing. You'll have to go somewhere else for that.

At that age aren't the earrings a choking hazard??
They could easily get pulled out when you least expect it.

Our pediatrician's office in Cary did it, but I don't know if they have an age restriction. I would definitely try to get it done at a doctors office.

I had my daughters ears pierced when they were three months old. As a matter of fact, my mother had mine done when I was an infant. I have never had any issues.

My fiancee's ears were pierced when she was an infant. I'm not sure I would do it for my kid, but it seems to have worked out fine for her.

There are no issues of legality here, it's just personal choice.

I know piercing a baby's/small child's ears is often a cultural thing but I'd never inflict pain on a baby just so SOME adults think it's "cute". Babies are beautiful, they don't need adornments.

My daughter won't have her ears pierced until I feel she's old enough AND can choose to do so on her own. That's just me though. I used to feel indifferent about everyone else's kid but my opinion changed quite a bit one day when I was walking in Crabtree and heard a less than 6 month old baby screaming at the top of her lungs. She was SCREAMING in pain (there are different cries) and I looked down at the lower level to see that it was because she was having her ears pierced.

Side note, I had no clue that some pediatricians did this. I guess if it was going to be done, this would presumably be the best place.

Yes, some pediatricians do it, but it varies with the pediatrician. My brother-in-law in Ohio does it in his pediatric office, but that doesn't really help you out .

On other boards I've heard good things about Piercing Pagoda in either Crabtree or Cary Towne Center. But I have no personal experience as I'd rather wait until my girls are 7 or so.
