I need to find someone to connect the natural gas pipes up to my grill. I'm also hoping they can do the grill conversion, but if not I can handle that. Does anyone have experience with someone I can hire?

We had The gas company come out and do ours.

Gas company, plumber or an HVAC tech is capable. I did my own, pretty easy job really. Turn the meter off, bleed the lines of any excess gas, install the steel piping with couplings and pipe joint compound. It cost less than $50. I would guess having someone else do it would run $300 or so.\

ps- you have to drill the orifice large if your grill does not have an adapter for natural gas. Most mid to high grade grills have the optional adapter though.

We had an estimate a couple of years ago and $300 sounds about right. We ended up converted our grill from LP to Propane (we just ordered a kit from Weber and my husband did it--very simple).

I had an estimate recently for a very easy job - tap the pipe and run a line 6 feet, and they quoted me $500. It can easily be done yourself if you ensure you turn off the gas and make sure there's no leak for a lot less - just make sure you get it permitted for insurance purposes.

I really don't know if I"m up for doing this myself. I have never done pipe work before and gas worries me. The gas company did say they would do it for $125/hour, but I thought there would be a plumber/handyman who would like the work.

How does it hook up to the grill, without being a hazard? Is there a flex pipe? What happens if the grill gets moved while being connected to the gas line? I like the idea of going natural gas and not having to fill propane tanks, but I thought I would have to build a permanent grill area before I could do this.

I have a flex pipe(rubber) on mine for that reason. The pipe running from the manifold to the deck is steel though. It makes the switch just under the deck.
If you know someone in the HVAC field they can get yellow flex line for you that you can do the whole run with. It is not sold to consumers though.
