First off, congratulations! We just closed on our house this week. We have been using State Farm, for several years, so we just stuck with them. It appears their rates are pretty good, but we also get a discount since we have other policies with them. I think most companies will do that. Good luck!

I recommend getting a quote from who ever you get your car insurance from. YOu'll get a multiple policy discount.

Erie, AAA+ rated with plenty of ratio capital backing them, per the policies they carry. Rates are very competitive. they have a very high customer rating from those who have had claims. You have to meet minimum credit standards and claim history to be approved, but it is well worth it.

I pay $648 this last year for replacement on $300,000 home, standard content coverage, etc..

Default Erie rules!

I second the thumbs up for Erie insurance. We went to Bradsher and Bunn on Morgan Street in Raleigh (highly recommended.) After doing some comparing, they set us up with Erie. Also, we now get our auto insurance through Erie. We are saving a ton of money, have excellent coverage, and couldn't be happier with Erie.

State farm's quote on my home insurance is $200 more than other companies' quote.
State farm's quote on my auto is more than double what other companies's quote.

I have Traveler's insurance for our home through Geico. Just under 600/year for a $250,000 coverage on home and outside buildings
