Having lived in Raleigh for 40 years and seen it grow beyond anything we could have imagined, I have been impressed by the efforts of state & local authorities to protect the small family cemeteries that have "been in the way" of developers. There are three such plots on Lead Mine Road and I was wondering if anyone had any information on their histories and those folks whose remains are buried there. I'd also appreciate any info on where to look for such information. Thanks y'all!
My husband and I live very close to the plots on Leadmine and so the other day we took at walk to get a closer look. The family name on the stones are Sanders and we're wandering if the plot belongs to the closest home we can see? There are about 7 Sanders family members buried there. We'll be out on our bikes all around Raleigh and we see these small plots. The city has done a good job with regard to preserving these areas..they are all over.
Another of the cemeteries houses my Terry ancestors. Most of us are still here in Wake County. The family owned several hundred acres in the area north of Lynn Road. Some of the family moved to Eastern Wake County, but not quite sure what happened to the rest.
