Ha. I guess our cowboy prefers to stay in the dark.
KK isn't sponsoring it. Its student run. College students just like donuts.
Ha! Read the title, tell me what that implies? Give me a break. "The Krispy Kreme Challenge" Anyone who read that and thought anything differently would have to be psychic.

Or they could simply click on the link provide by the OP and in about 10 seconds realize this is an event run by college students to raise money for charity.
Any surprise this was dreamed up by college students?
I don't understand all the handwringing above about a fun event that has raised over 30K for charity.
Frankly, it helps bolster my faith in our future leaders and movers and shakers.
I can't think of the KK Challenge without grinning. And getting just a little queasy.
I think it would be fun if they made them run with those beer hats on (you know, the ones with the straws directly from the beer on your head to your mouth) and a TV remote control in their right hands.

Oh I read the entire post. It VERY much implies it is sponsored by KK. From start to finish. Just because it mentions NCSU students, does not mean it is NOT sponsorfed by KK. You only know this in hindsight.
Krispy Kreme just HAS to be on board.
If 3000 runners roll in and all want their dozen, we're talking about efficiently delivering 36,000 donuts.
I assume that some casual trencherpersons/runners are eating a ceremonial sinker, and the number of donuts is likely more like a third of that, say, 12,000.
Now I know they move pastry in volume over on Peace Street.
I also think 12,000 might be a little more than the average Saturday Morning business and if ordered at the counter without any prior communication, this volume might stress the state-of-the-art KK starch and fat delivery system.
How to fix that?
Get KK on board for a good charitable cause and let them call themselves a "Sponsor."
It is my understanding that this started as a NCSU thing and has gotten bigger over the years, with non-NCSU runners, families, etc. getting involved. I believe that KK has had to get involved, just for the reason Mike says...it has gotten so big, they need to be prepared.
