I think it's still too new to say much about it. They are already on their second principal so they haven't had much of a chance to have continuity as the school has only been open for 18 months.

I agree. It's way too early to compare. That said, depending on your desires, if you want "name brand recognition" you want to be in ECCHS. Anything with the name Chapel Hill gets recognized. Good luck.

Carrboro is very nice and new, in terms of its buildings. If either of your children are interested in the performing arts, however, I would not recommend Carrboro High. The building does not yet have an auditorium, and the theater/choral/band departments use alternate spaces and aren't too formed yet (as opposed to the departments at other schools, with great traditions and student groups).

I believe Carrboro has had some racial issues too -- I think a Swastika was drawn and some names were called, causing a fight. Not really sure on specifics (Google it?). I doubt it is a reflection of the school -- the kids I know who go there are just like any other kids -- but something to keep in mind, I suppose.

Remember though, that this is a CHCCS. The district has a very solid reputation overall, and that extends to the new Carrboro high school. Not quite on par with ECHHS, or even CHHS, but still a good school in comparison to those in other local counties.

I don't think Ausmerika was referring to the quality of the school -- that will definitely be equal in all three schools (except for lacking certain facilities at Carrboro because it's so new). Ausmerika was talking about "prestige" -- colleges recognize the "Chapel Hill" name and know that it must be a good school. In time, they will learn that Carrboro is just as good/in the same district, but that will take time, and for now ECHHS and CHHS have the "name brand recognition" helpful in college admissions.
