Can anyone help me out with some of the differences between the southwest Cary - Holly Springs area vs. Wake Forest. Information on these communities would be appreciated. Thanks

I used to live in holly springs, then moved to apex (just off of ten ten road) then to wake forest (2 years ago). I liked holly springs, but at the time I was there you had to go out of holly springs for most things (major shopping, home depot, etc). I think that is changing......they are revitalizing their downtown, which is nice. Holly springs is a wonderful small town and it has a lot to offer. That whole area that is the ten ten road/kildaire farm road/holly springs road is a combo of holly springs, apex and cary. It is not the "cary" that everyone thinks about that is near research triangle park. It is the cary with a little more land and a lot more trees!

Wake forest is bigger than holly springs, has everything you would need on a daily basis in one town, is very family friendly, has some really nice neighborhoods and more space!!! I tend to like wake forest more, but that is a personal preferance thing, I think.

The big issue is your commute. If you are going to work in sanford, then live in southern wake county! we moved to wake forest for a better commute to rtp, but we live on the west side of wake forest which makes a big difference.

Anyhow, pm if you have more questions, my typing is keeping my husband awake!

Default Golf communities

If you are looking for golf communities to semi-retire, check out Carolina Trace in Lee County, near Sanford.
It's a beautiful, established community with a mix of retirees and younger families. Along with its own golf course, you will be near a large number of public and private courses throughout the Sandhills region, including Tobacco Road in Lee County, which was just ranked in the Top Ten of most challenging golf courses in the U.S. by GOLF Digest magazine.

I know this is slightly different than your original question, but I read some of your other posts regarding golf communities, and thought this might be helpful.
