Hi there,
My husband and I are strongly considering relocating to the Raleigh area within the next several years. We are going to be visiting in April for a few days in order to look into various areas. This is just the beginning of my research so really not sure even what general area of the Triangle would be best for us.
We will both continue to work (I am a speech therapist, DH a musician) are close to retirement age (50 and 60)....thinking gated community that offers single family homes (age restricted or not, doesn't really matter) but will not want to spend more than 325,000.
If anyone can suggest some areas or a realtor that would be able to talk with us and show us some communities it would be appreciated.
Thanks much.

Welcome! Based on what you said any area in the greater Raleigh area or some say Triangle area would seem to fit. I would like to also find that gated community for $325k. Most I know of start above $500k more like $750k. Not knowing where you are coming from or what you like or are looking for is really tough to say where to start looking. There are a number of Realtors that frequent this site and I don't think you can go wrong with anyone of them.

There advise on this site IMHO is always very good!

Wherever you decide to move to I would ask that you take a look see at Wake Forest too.

You will find a plentitude of single family home options up to $325,000.
And the Triangle is becoming somewhat of a retirement Mecca.
Health-care is a concern in retirement, and we have excellent facilities in all of the cities in the Triangle.

Age-restricted communities are increasing.
Carolina Preserve @ Amberly in Cary by Del Webb.
Heritage Pines in Cary

Most gated communities in the area are in higher price ranges, however.

Hi Dansdrive and Mike Jacquish
Thanks for the replies.
Wake Forest is actually one of the areas I was hoping to explore in April - also was thinking of Fuquay Varina...
what I think would suit us is a subdivision that has a nice community feel with a downtown area if possible (not necessarily within walking distance but certainly very close by)
